How We Facilitate

Facilitation that moves teams from conversation to action

We don't dictate solutions. We're facilitator-guided, but participant-led. We create the environment where your team's expertise meets fresh insight and knowledge, so your team leaves with an action plan you own and will be able to put into practice.

Every engagement is built around your goals, your sector, and your people. It's the difference between a session that lands well in the room and one your team is still using on Monday morning.

Why Positive Impact?

The quality of human connection determines the quality of everything an organization creates.

That belief sits at the centre of every session we design and every client relationship we build. We don't just run programs. We create the conditions for your teams to do their best thinking together.

More about us
  • 1

    Your expertise, plus ours

Your people bring the nuanced understanding about how your organization actually works. The relationships, the challenges and the opportunities. We bring deep expertise in facilitation, training and professional development. The best sessions happen where the two combine.

  • 2

    Outputs you can act on

Every session ends with specific commitments, clear ownership, and a follow-up structure, so you leave with traction for Monday morning.

  • 3

    Purpose-driven, like you

We work best with organizations that care about more than just the next quarter: folks building something good for their people and their community.

Why facilitation?

How a team works together shapes everything it creates.

Outcomes

What your team walks away with

  • Better decisions, made together

Clearer, smarter decisions your whole team stands behind, with no quiet second-guessing afterward.

  • Real buy-in

People leave invested in the outcome because they helped shape it, not just informed of it.

  • Stronger team connection

Co-creating the trust and psychological safety that high-performing teams rely on.

  • Action that sticks

Specific commitments and clear ownership, so the plan gets used on Monday morning.

  • Fresh thinking and better ideas

The conditions that surface your team's best ideas, and perspectives that would not have come out otherwise.

It was a pleasure to work with Will and Positive Impact. I was both inspired and empowered to co-deliver a meaningful offsite. Their positive insight into leadership performance and emotional resilience gave me clear direction and tactical tools I could apply to my workplace right away. I thoroughly look forward to working with Will again.

COMS Communication Styles grid: Commanding, Outgoing, Systematic and Measured across the assertive, reflective, results-driven and interpersonal axes

COMS Communication Styles

A focused workshop on COMS, our very own communication styles assessment that is research-backed and expertly facilitated. Your team gains a shared vocabulary for how each person works, so differences become something you can use.

Through eight strategically designed questions, COMS surfaces how each person communicates, how their style shifts under pressure, and what happens when different styles combine. We map the results onto a simple, visual grid your whole team can read at a glance.

The result is stronger team dynamics, less friction, and communication that holds up across the organization. Your people leave understanding their own style, appreciating the others, and knowing how to adapt to get the best from every conversation.

Strategic Planning

This is your chance to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization, and to align on the initiatives and actions that actually get executed.

As strategic planning facilitators, we guide the process and create the environment for open dialogue, critical thinking and collaborative decision-making. Your group co-creates the strategy from its own knowledge, experience and diversity.

Strategic planning is more than a single session. We help you navigate the plan through the months and years that follow, offering an objective lens and insight into how other organizations turn strategy into action.

The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni, held during a workshop

5 Dysfunctions of a Team

This workshop is about making a good team optimal. Built on Patrick Lencioni's widely used framework and delivered through an appreciative-inquiry lens that builds on what already works.

Together we explore the five behaviours that make or break teams: trust, healthy conflict, commitment, accountability and results. Through honest reflection, guided discussion and practical exercises, your team looks at where it is strong and where it gets stuck.

Your people leave with a shared language for how they work together, a clearer sense of how they hold one another accountable, and a practical path forward they have built themselves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Good to know before we talk

What does a facilitation company do?

A facilitation company designs and leads group sessions so a team can think, decide and align more effectively than it would on its own. The facilitator stays neutral and owns the process, while your team brings the knowledge and owns the outcome: strategic planning, retreats, leadership development, communication workshops and change management.

How much does a facilitated session cost?

Cost depends on the format, length, group size, and how much custom design the session needs. A focused half-day workshop is a different investment than a multi-day strategic offsite with pre-session interviews and follow-up. We'll give you a clear, honest quote once we understand what you're trying to accomplish. The best next step is a short conversation about your goals.

Do you facilitate remotely or only in person?

Both. We run in-person sessions across Canada and facilitate virtual and hybrid sessions for distributed teams. Hybrid in particular takes careful design to keep remote participants as engaged as the people in the room. That's something we build in from the start.

What's the difference between facilitation and training or consulting?

A trainer transfers knowledge to your team. A consultant diagnoses a problem and hands you recommendations. A facilitator does neither. We guide a process that draws out the knowledge already in your team and helps the group reach its own decisions. You hire us when your people have the expertise but need a neutral structure to align and move forward together.

Where is Positive Impact based, and what areas do you serve?

We're based in Victoria, BC, and facilitate across Canada: British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, the Prairies and Atlantic Canada. Sessions run in person and virtually, so distance is rarely a barrier.

How do we get started?

Reach out for a no-pressure conversation. We'll talk through what you're trying to accomplish, tell you honestly whether facilitation is the right fit, and recommend a format that suits your team: sometimes a workshop, sometimes a retreat, and sometimes something else entirely.

Let's get started!
