COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles draws inspiration from Paul Costa and Robert McCrae’s research on the Big Five Personality Model, introducing how different personality styles prefer to communicate along the spectrums of result-driven vs. interpersonal and reflective vs. assertive.

COMS is an interactive communication styles exploration. Through answering 8 strategically designed questions, you and your team will gain valuable insights into how individuals tend to communicate and interact. By visualising this into a simple but effective grid and delivering an interactive workshop, it can be instrumental in improving team dynamics, reducing conflict, and fostering more effective communication across the organization. Each of the four identified style has its strengths in different contexts. Your team will leave the session knowing with a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse communication styles as well as how to leverage each approach and adapt their style to maximize impact and drive positive outcomes.

Strategic Planning

This isn’t just another corporate exercise – it’s a chance for you to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization and an opportunity to align on strategic planning initiatives and actions.

As strategic planning facilitators, we guide organizations through the strategic planning process. We don’t dictate solutions to you, we enable your groups to co-create strategies based knowledge, experience and diversity. We create an environment conducive to open dialogue, innovation, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making. This role is distinct in that it focuses on empowering your organization rather than imposing external ideas. Our award-winning facilitators are catalysts for transformative decision-making and planning. We do, however, offer guidance and insight into how other organizations operate and offer suggestions you may wish to implement. To us, strategic planning is more than just a single planning session. We work with our clients to help them navigate the strategic plan throughout the months and even years ahead. With our objective lens, we are well-positioned to offer insights into the strategic plan and execution tactics.

Who typically hires a facilitator in Manitoba?

Organizations navigating change, growth, or planning initiatives often hire external facilitators. This includes school divisions, health authorities, Indigenous communities, and local businesses. Facilitation helps create clarity and collaboration across diverse teams. Our work supports both internal alignment and broader engagement.

Do you offer in-person facilitation in Winnipeg?

Yes, we deliver in-person sessions across Winnipeg and surrounding areas such as Steinbach, Selkirk, and Portage la Prairie. We work in boardrooms, offsite venues, or community spaces depending on your needs. In-person facilitation offers strong relationship-building opportunities and rich group interaction. We adapt our methods to fit the location and purpose.

Can facilitation support Indigenous-led projects in Manitoba?

Yes, we co-create sessions with Indigenous partners to ensure culturally appropriate formats. These may include traditional protocols, co-facilitation, or adapted tools. Our approach is rooted in listening, respect, and collaboration. Each session is tailored in consultation with community leaders or project teams.

How do facilitators help with strategic decision-making?

Facilitators guide teams through structured dialogue, helping clarify vision, priorities, and action steps. We use tools such as decision grids, alignment exercises, and reflective questions to support group insight. This allows leaders to focus on content while we manage the process. The outcome is more focused and inclusive planning.

Can you support hybrid or virtual facilitation in Winnipeg?

Yes, we offer facilitation for hybrid and virtual teams using Zoom, Miro, and other collaboration platforms. These sessions maintain high engagement with tools like breakout rooms and shared visuals. Virtual options are ideal for distributed organizations or those with remote staff. We ensure tech access and participation support in advance.

What types of teams benefit most from facilitation?

Leadership groups, nonprofit boards, cross-functional teams, and community partnerships often benefit from structured facilitation. Teams that are stuck, facing conflict, or developing new initiatives gain clarity through guided sessions. Our facilitators support process design, inclusive participation, and shared understanding. Each facilitation is customized to fit the context.

How should we prepare for a facilitation session?

We begin with an intake call to learn about your objectives and group dynamics. From there, we co-design the agenda and prepare tools that match your outcomes. We’ll also clarify logistics, roles, and any pre-session input needed. This ensures your team is informed and ready for a productive experience.
