COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles draws inspiration from Paul Costa and Robert McCrae’s research on the Big Five Personality Model, introducing how different personality styles prefer to communicate along the spectrums of result-driven vs. interpersonal and reflective vs. assertive.

COMS is an interactive communication styles exploration. Through answering 8 strategically designed questions, you and your team will gain valuable insights into how individuals tend to communicate and interact. By visualising this into a simple but effective grid and delivering an interactive workshop, it can be instrumental in improving team dynamics, reducing conflict, and fostering more effective communication across the organization. Each of the four identified style has its strengths in different contexts. Your team will leave the session knowing with a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse communication styles as well as how to leverage each approach and adapt their style to maximize impact and drive positive outcomes.

Strategic Planning

This isn’t just another corporate exercise – it’s a chance for you to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization and an opportunity to align on strategic planning initiatives and actions.

As strategic planning facilitators, we guide organizations through the strategic planning process. We don’t dictate solutions to you, we enable your groups to co-create strategies based knowledge, experience and diversity. We create an environment conducive to open dialogue, innovation, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making. This role is distinct in that it focuses on empowering your organization rather than imposing external ideas. Our award-winning facilitators are catalysts for transformative decision-making and planning. We do, however, offer guidance and insight into how other organizations operate and offer suggestions you may wish to implement. To us, strategic planning is more than just a single planning session. We work with our clients to help them navigate the strategic plan throughout the months and even years ahead. With our objective lens, we are well-positioned to offer insights into the strategic plan and execution tactics.

What types of facilitation services are available in Victoria, BC?

Facilitators in Victoria support strategic planning, leadership sessions, organizational development, and cross-sector collaboration. Services are tailored to nonprofits, municipalities, private sector teams, and community-based organizations. Sessions are designed to promote clarity, inclusion, and aligned outcomes. They can be delivered in-person, virtually, or in hybrid formats.

How do facilitators adapt to the professional environment in Victoria?

Victoria’s work culture often emphasizes collaboration, values-driven leadership, and thoughtful dialogue. Facilitators familiar with the region reflect these values by designing inclusive and reflective sessions. They also incorporate approaches that account for both public sector and entrepreneurial contexts. The facilitation process supports respectful discussion and forward movement.

Do you offer sessions for local government or public agencies?

Yes, facilitators frequently work with municipal departments, school districts, and other public agencies in Victoria. These sessions often support planning, engagement, or interdepartmental alignment. Facilitators bring a neutral stance that helps groups navigate diverse perspectives. The goal is to support effective service delivery and internal collaboration.

Can we combine in-person and remote participants in a session?

Hybrid sessions are increasingly common for Victoria-based teams. Facilitators use digital tools and thoughtful structure to ensure remote voices are included. Clear facilitation, breakout formats, and real-time synthesis help manage group dynamics across formats. The session design supports equal participation regardless of location.

What topics are typically addressed in a facilitated session?

Common facilitation themes include goal setting, communication challenges, role clarity, and organizational direction. Sessions may also focus on values, growth planning, or feedback culture. The facilitator works with you to identify priority areas ahead of time. Each workshop is structured to drive practical results.

What’s involved in preparing for a session in Victoria?

Preparation begins with a call to clarify purpose, outcomes, and group makeup. You may be asked to share materials or context. Facilitators then design an agenda and session flow tailored to your goals. Participants are given clear expectations without heavy prep requirements.

How far in advance should we schedule a facilitator?

It’s best to book 4 to 6 weeks in advance to allow time for agenda design and logistics. Victoria-based facilitators often book up during spring and fall. Scheduling early increases flexibility with location, timing, and facilitator fit. For urgent needs, reach out to check availability.

What outcomes can we expect from a facilitated session?

Well-facilitated sessions lead to shared understanding, clearer direction, and stronger alignment among participants. Many teams leave with next steps, commitments, or renewed clarity on strategy. Facilitators also help document insights and decisions. The experience builds trust and a stronger collaborative foundation.
