COMS Communication Styles
COMS Communication Styles draws inspiration from Paul Costa and Robert McCrae’s research on the Big Five Personality Model, introducing how different personality styles prefer to communicate along the spectrums of result-driven vs. interpersonal and reflective vs. assertive.
COMS is an interactive communication styles exploration. Through answering 8 strategically designed questions, you and your team will gain valuable insights into how individuals tend to communicate and interact. By visualising this into a simple but effective grid and delivering an interactive workshop, it can be instrumental in improving team dynamics, reducing conflict, and fostering more effective communication across the organization. Each of the four identified style has its strengths in different contexts. Your team will leave the session knowing with a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse communication styles as well as how to leverage each approach and adapt their style to maximize impact and drive positive outcomes.
Strategic Planning
This isn’t just another corporate exercise – it’s a chance for you to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization and an opportunity to align on strategic planning initiatives and actions.
As strategic planning facilitators, we guide organizations through the strategic planning process. We don’t dictate solutions to you, we enable your groups to co-create strategies based knowledge, experience and diversity. We create an environment conducive to open dialogue, innovation, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making. This role is distinct in that it focuses on empowering your organization rather than imposing external ideas. Our award-winning facilitators are catalysts for transformative decision-making and planning. We do, however, offer guidance and insight into how other organizations operate and offer suggestions you may wish to implement. To us, strategic planning is more than just a single planning session. We work with our clients to help them navigate the strategic plan throughout the months and even years ahead. With our objective lens, we are well-positioned to offer insights into the strategic plan and execution tactics.

Whistler, BC Facilitator FAQs
What does a facilitator do for teams meeting in Whistler?
A facilitator helps your team focus, communicate clearly, and make meaningful progress during your time together. Whether you’re in Whistler for a retreat, offsite, or strategy session, our role is to structure the conversation so everyone can contribute without distraction. We manage the flow, guide the group through key discussions, and ensure your goals remain front and center. That way, your leadership team can fully participate instead of running the session. Our presence helps maximize the value of your offsite.
Why hire a facilitator for a Whistler retreat or planning session?
Whistler provides the environment for reflection—our facilitators help make that time count. Without structure, offsite sessions can drift or stay surface-level. A skilled facilitator keeps the discussion productive, ensures everyone is heard, and helps turn insight into clear next steps. If your team is gathering in-person, this is a chance to do deeper work. We make sure your time together drives outcomes, not just conversation.
Do you offer facilitation for both local teams and visiting organizations?
Yes, we support Whistler-based teams as well as organizations traveling from across Canada for retreats and planning sessions. We understand the dynamics of both types of engagements. For visiting groups, we create sessions that balance focus with the setting. For local teams, we bring a fresh perspective and customized facilitation grounded in the community context. In both cases, we work closely with you to align on goals and format.
Are your Whistler facilitators available for in-person sessions?
Yes, we regularly deliver in-person facilitation at venues throughout Whistler. We work in conference spaces, boutique hotels, rental lodges, and private meeting rooms. Our facilitators coordinate with your team or planner to ensure everything runs smoothly. We also adapt the session to the physical space—whether it’s a traditional boardroom or something more relaxed. In-person engagement supports deeper dialogue and stronger connections.
Can a Whistler facilitator help with team tension or communication breakdowns?
Yes. Our facilitators are skilled in supporting teams through tough conversations, including tension, misalignment, or trust issues. We use clear structures to surface challenges without blame. This helps the team move forward with honesty and respect. Whistler offers a pause from daily operations, making it a good place to reset relationships. We help ensure that reset leads to meaningful change.
What kind of preparation is involved before the session?
We always begin with a discovery call to understand your team, goals, and current dynamics. From there, we co-design the agenda and clarify what success looks like. You can share documents, surveys, or past plans if helpful. We’ll take care of building the structure and facilitating the process. Your role is to show up ready to engage.
Can you combine facilitation with outdoor or informal elements?
Yes, many teams in Whistler prefer a mix of formal and informal engagement. We can structure sessions that allow time for walking conversations, outdoor reflection, or casual group check-ins. While some sessions remain indoors for focus, others benefit from movement and nature. We’ll work with you to shape the right balance. The environment should support your goals—not distract from them.
How early should we book a Whistler facilitator?
For best results, we recommend booking four to six weeks ahead. This gives time for planning and ensures facilitator availability, especially during peak seasons in Whistler. If your dates are fixed, the sooner you reach out the better. We occasionally accommodate short-notice bookings based on capacity. Early planning allows us to design a session that truly supports your outcomes.
