COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles draws inspiration from Paul Costa and Robert McCrae’s research on the Big Five Personality Model, introducing how different personality styles prefer to communicate along the spectrums of result-driven vs. interpersonal and reflective vs. assertive.

COMS is an interactive communication styles exploration. Through answering 8 strategically designed questions, you and your team will gain valuable insights into how individuals tend to communicate and interact. By visualising this into a simple but effective grid and delivering an interactive workshop, it can be instrumental in improving team dynamics, reducing conflict, and fostering more effective communication across the organization. Each of the four identified style has its strengths in different contexts. Your team will leave the session knowing with a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse communication styles as well as how to leverage each approach and adapt their style to maximize impact and drive positive outcomes.

Strategic Planning

This isn’t just another corporate exercise – it’s a chance for you to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization and an opportunity to align on strategic planning initiatives and actions.

As strategic planning facilitators, we guide organizations through the strategic planning process. We don’t dictate solutions to you, we enable your groups to co-create strategies based knowledge, experience and diversity. We create an environment conducive to open dialogue, innovation, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making. This role is distinct in that it focuses on empowering your organization rather than imposing external ideas. Our award-winning facilitators are catalysts for transformative decision-making and planning. We do, however, offer guidance and insight into how other organizations operate and offer suggestions you may wish to implement. To us, strategic planning is more than just a single planning session. We work with our clients to help them navigate the strategic plan throughout the months and even years ahead. With our objective lens, we are well-positioned to offer insights into the strategic plan and execution tactics.

FAQs for Edmonton, AB Facilitator

What types of facilitation services are offered in Edmonton?

Facilitation in Edmonton includes strategic planning, team development, stakeholder engagement, and board alignment. Sessions are tailored to match the pace, scale, and values of each group. We also support interdepartmental collaboration, cross-sector dialogue, and leadership workshops. Each facilitation is designed to support progress through structure and reflection.

Who typically hires facilitators in Edmonton?

Clients range from provincial nonprofits and government agencies to small businesses, post-secondary institutions, and Indigenous-led organizations. Many choose facilitation when they need outside process support to navigate change, plan ahead, or improve internal communication. We support both executive teams and broad staff groups. The focus is always on clarity and shared commitment.

Do you offer facilitation in-person throughout Edmonton and Alberta?

Yes, we regularly deliver in-person sessions across Edmonton and nearby areas like Sherwood Park, St. Albert, and Leduc. Travel within the region is coordinated based on location and session length. Whether you’re hosting in an office or an offsite venue, we adapt to the space. Rural and hybrid delivery options are also available.

How does the process begin with a facilitation request in Edmonton?

It begins with a discovery call or intake process to understand your needs, goals, and organizational context. From there, we co-create a session plan and format that supports full participation. Whether the group is six or sixty people, we ensure clarity around outcomes and design. This collaborative planning process ensures alignment before the session begins.

What outcomes can organizations expect from facilitation in Edmonton?

Most groups walk away with greater clarity, documented action steps, and a stronger sense of shared ownership. Depending on the session type, outcomes may include a strategic roadmap, clarified team roles, or frameworks for ongoing collaboration. The focus is on real progress, not just discussion. Follow-up support is also available when requested.

Are Edmonton facilitation sessions culturally responsive or bilingual?

Yes, we regularly adapt our facilitation to reflect cultural protocols, including those specific to Indigenous or multicultural organizations. Where needed, we collaborate with bilingual co-facilitators or interpreters. The process is shaped by the needs of your team and community. Inclusivity and responsiveness are built into session design.

What formats are used for facilitation in Edmonton?

We use a combination of small group discussions, plenary exercises, visual frameworks, and guided activities. Each component is selected to match the group’s energy, size, and comfort level. Sessions often move from inquiry to clarity to action. Hybrid and virtual tools can also be used to support broader participation.

Do you offer virtual facilitation for Edmonton-based teams?

Yes, we support virtual and hybrid sessions using Zoom, Miro, and Google Workspace. Our facilitators are experienced in keeping online sessions structured, interactive, and productive. This is ideal for distributed teams or when in-person delivery isn’t feasible. We also offer pre-session orientation and tech support as needed.
