COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles draws inspiration from Paul Costa and Robert McCrae’s research on the Big Five Personality Model, introducing how different personality styles prefer to communicate along the spectrums of result-driven vs. interpersonal and reflective vs. assertive.

COMS is an interactive communication styles exploration. Through answering 8 strategically designed questions, you and your team will gain valuable insights into how individuals tend to communicate and interact. By visualising this into a simple but effective grid and delivering an interactive workshop, it can be instrumental in improving team dynamics, reducing conflict, and fostering more effective communication across the organization. Each of the four identified style has its strengths in different contexts. Your team will leave the session knowing with a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse communication styles as well as how to leverage each approach and adapt their style to maximize impact and drive positive outcomes.

Strategic Planning

This isn’t just another corporate exercise – it’s a chance for you to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization and an opportunity to align on strategic planning initiatives and actions.

As strategic planning facilitators, we guide organizations through the strategic planning process. We don’t dictate solutions to you, we enable your groups to co-create strategies based knowledge, experience and diversity. We create an environment conducive to open dialogue, innovation, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making. This role is distinct in that it focuses on empowering your organization rather than imposing external ideas. Our award-winning facilitators are catalysts for transformative decision-making and planning. We do, however, offer guidance and insight into how other organizations operate and offer suggestions you may wish to implement. To us, strategic planning is more than just a single planning session. We work with our clients to help them navigate the strategic plan throughout the months and even years ahead. With our objective lens, we are well-positioned to offer insights into the strategic plan and execution tactics.

Canada Facilitation FAQs

What types of organizations do you support in Canada?

We work with nonprofits, startups, public sector teams, and established companies across Canada. Our facilitation services are designed to meet the needs of both small, mission-driven groups and large, multi-stakeholder organizations. Whether you’re aligning a national board, hosting a regional strategy session, or building trust within a local team, we tailor each engagement to your context. We’ve supported clients from Vancouver to Halifax. Our experience across sectors allows us to adapt to diverse mandates and working styles.

Do you offer facilitation in both English and French?

Yes, we offer facilitation in English and can arrange for bilingual or French-language facilitation upon request. We recognize the importance of language in building inclusion and clarity, particularly in federally funded or national organizations. For groups in Quebec or bilingual teams across Canada, we ensure materials and facilitation style reflect those needs. Let us know your preferred language format during the planning stage. We’ll match you with a facilitator or team that fits your linguistic and cultural context.

What facilitation services do you provide across Canada?

We facilitate strategic planning, team effectiveness sessions, leadership development, and stakeholder engagement workshops. Our facilitators also support board retreats, professional development events, and cross-sector dialogues. Each session is built around your goals and may include real-time collaboration tools, data analysis, or communication assessments. We deliver both in-person and virtual facilitation across Canadian time zones. Whether your team is remote, hybrid, or gathering for the first time, we adapt to what works best.

Can you support hybrid or fully remote facilitation in Canada?

Yes, we regularly facilitate sessions for remote or hybrid teams across Canada. We use accessible digital tools like Zoom, Miro, and Google Workspace to maintain energy, engagement, and clarity. Virtual facilitation also allows us to connect teams across provinces and time zones with minimal disruption. We design experiences that feel human, even on screen. Our team brings structure and interaction that keeps remote sessions effective and inclusive.

How do you approach culturally diverse teams?

We approach each session with curiosity, humility, and a commitment to creating space for all voices. In a Canadian context, that means attending to regional, linguistic, and cultural dynamics. Our facilitators adapt language, pace, and structure to meet diverse group needs. We create room for reflection, inquiry, and respectful disagreement. This helps teams build trust and make decisions that reflect a broader range of perspectives.

Are your facilitators based in Canada?

Yes, we work with experienced facilitators across multiple Canadian cities and provinces. Our team understands the regional differences and workplace realities across the country. From municipal teams in BC to federal organizations in Ottawa, we bring local insight to national conversations. We also travel where needed and maintain strong capacity for virtual delivery. Our roots are Canadian, and so is our facilitation practice.

What outcomes can we expect from a facilitation session?

You can expect greater alignment, clearer communication, and more effective decision-making. Our sessions surface insights that help teams move forward with focus and confidence. Whether you’re setting a strategy or working through tension, facilitation provides structure that leads to traction. Teams also walk away with shared language and tools for future collaboration. We support not just a productive session, but sustainable results.

How far in advance should we book a Canadian facilitation session?

We recommend booking 4 to 6 weeks in advance, especially for full-day or multi-team sessions. This allows time for discovery, customization, and logistics. However, we do accommodate shorter timelines when possible. Reach out as soon as your planning window opens. We’ll walk you through next steps and confirm availability based on your location and goals.
