COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles draws inspiration from Paul Costa and Robert McCrae’s research on the Big Five Personality Model, introducing how different personality styles prefer to communicate along the spectrums of result-driven vs. interpersonal and reflective vs. assertive.

COMS is an interactive communication styles exploration. Through answering 8 strategically designed questions, you and your team will gain valuable insights into how individuals tend to communicate and interact. By visualising this into a simple but effective grid and delivering an interactive workshop, it can be instrumental in improving team dynamics, reducing conflict, and fostering more effective communication across the organization. Each of the four identified style has its strengths in different contexts. Your team will leave the session knowing with a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse communication styles as well as how to leverage each approach and adapt their style to maximize impact and drive positive outcomes.

Strategic Planning

This isn’t just another corporate exercise – it’s a chance for you to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization and an opportunity to align on strategic planning initiatives and actions.

As strategic planning facilitators, we guide organizations through the strategic planning process. We don’t dictate solutions to you, we enable your groups to co-create strategies based knowledge, experience and diversity. We create an environment conducive to open dialogue, innovation, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making. This role is distinct in that it focuses on empowering your organization rather than imposing external ideas. Our award-winning facilitators are catalysts for transformative decision-making and planning. We do, however, offer guidance and insight into how other organizations operate and offer suggestions you may wish to implement. To us, strategic planning is more than just a single planning session. We work with our clients to help them navigate the strategic plan throughout the months and even years ahead. With our objective lens, we are well-positioned to offer insights into the strategic plan and execution tactics.

Online Facilitation FAQs

What is online facilitation?

Online facilitation is the process of guiding group conversations, collaboration, and decision-making through virtual platforms. It combines structured design with real-time interaction tools like Zoom, Miro, and Google Docs. A facilitator manages flow, encourages participation, and ensures the session stays focused. This helps distributed teams achieve clarity and progress without being in the same location.

How is online facilitation different from a typical video call?

A typical video meeting often lacks structure, direction, and balanced engagement. Online facilitation adds intentional planning, clear roles, and interactive methods to keep participants focused. Facilitators manage time, transitions, and group dynamics. The result is more inclusive dialogue and better outcomes.

What types of meetings can be facilitated online?

Strategic planning, team development, project alignment, and innovation sessions all work well in online formats. Stakeholder engagement, visioning, and decision-making can also be done virtually with proper design. Sessions can range from one hour to multiple sessions across several days. We match the format to your goals and group needs.

What tools are used in online facilitation?

Common tools include Zoom for video, Miro or MURAL for visual collaboration, and Google Workspace for shared documents. We select tools based on your team’s comfort and the session’s objectives. Simple tools often work best for maintaining focus and momentum. We also provide support in advance to ensure participants feel ready.

Can online facilitation support large groups?

Yes, online facilitation works well with both small and large groups when designed thoughtfully. For larger sessions, we use breakout rooms, visual boards, and structured prompts. Facilitators guide transitions and maintain energy throughout. The experience remains focused and inclusive regardless of group size.

How do you keep virtual sessions engaging and productive?

We use a mix of formats to support interaction, including breakout discussions, live polling, and collaborative exercises. Sessions are designed with pacing and participation in mind. Facilitators read the energy and adjust accordingly. This helps prevent fatigue and encourages real engagement.

What if our team has limited experience with online collaboration tools?

We keep tools simple and provide clear instructions at the start of each session. When needed, we host short tech orientations in advance. The focus is always on content and outcomes, not on technology. Our facilitators handle the platform so your team can focus on the conversation.

How far in advance should we book an online facilitation session?

Booking 3 to 4 weeks ahead allows time for discovery, session design, and technical planning. Larger or multi-phase engagements may require more lead time. We occasionally support urgent requests depending on availability. Early booking ensures a smoother experience and stronger results.
