COMS Communication Styles
COMS Communication Styles draws inspiration from Paul Costa and Robert McCrae’s research on the Big Five Personality Model, introducing how different personality styles prefer to communicate along the spectrums of result-driven vs. interpersonal and reflective vs. assertive.
COMS is an interactive communication styles exploration. Through answering 8 strategically designed questions, you and your team will gain valuable insights into how individuals tend to communicate and interact. By visualising this into a simple but effective grid and delivering an interactive workshop, it can be instrumental in improving team dynamics, reducing conflict, and fostering more effective communication across the organization. Each of the four identified style has its strengths in different contexts. Your team will leave the session knowing with a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse communication styles as well as how to leverage each approach and adapt their style to maximize impact and drive positive outcomes.
Strategic Planning
This isn’t just another corporate exercise – it’s a chance for you to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization and an opportunity to align on strategic planning initiatives and actions.
As strategic planning facilitators, we guide organizations through the strategic planning process. We don’t dictate solutions to you, we enable your groups to co-create strategies based knowledge, experience and diversity. We create an environment conducive to open dialogue, innovation, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making. This role is distinct in that it focuses on empowering your organization rather than imposing external ideas. Our award-winning facilitators are catalysts for transformative decision-making and planning. We do, however, offer guidance and insight into how other organizations operate and offer suggestions you may wish to implement. To us, strategic planning is more than just a single planning session. We work with our clients to help them navigate the strategic plan throughout the months and even years ahead. With our objective lens, we are well-positioned to offer insights into the strategic plan and execution tactics.

FAQs for Newfoundland & Labrador Facilitation
What makes facilitation effective in Newfoundland and Labrador?
Facilitation works best when it’s adapted to local culture, geography, and group dynamics. We take the time to understand what success looks like for your organization before designing any session. Whether participants are in the same room or joining remotely, we prioritize simplicity and clarity. Our role is to guide the process so your people can focus on what matters most.
How do you handle sessions when participants are spread across the province?
We design for inclusion, whether that means hybrid delivery or flexible tools that work with variable internet access. Our facilitators are experienced in holding space for participants in both urban and rural communities. We focus on maximizing participation, regardless of physical location. Sessions are paced and structured to respect regional time zones and accessibility.
What kinds of issues can facilitation help solve in this context?
We support strategic planning, stakeholder alignment, internal team development, and collaborative decision-making. Facilitation is especially helpful when conversations have become stuck or when new priorities require focused attention. It’s a good fit for organizations navigating transitions or launching multi-community initiatives. The process helps identify what’s working, where the gaps are, and how to move forward.
Can you customize the facilitation to reflect our specific goals?
Yes, every session is co-designed with your objectives in mind. We begin with a planning call and any relevant document review to align on outcomes. Then we build a session flow that fits your team’s style and needs. Facilitation should never feel generic, and we make sure it’s purpose-built.
What facilitation formats are available in Newfoundland and Labrador?
We offer in-person, online, and hybrid formats depending on your location and preferences. Whether it’s a full-day retreat or a 90-minute working session, we design to fit the goals and timeline. Our approach emphasizes engagement and focus, regardless of the setting. Each format has its strengths and we help you choose the right one.
Are your facilitation methods aligned with Indigenous engagement principles?
Yes, when relevant, we integrate facilitation approaches that center respect, inclusion, and relational practice. If your session includes Indigenous voices or perspectives, we adapt accordingly. We also work with facilitators experienced in Indigenous contexts when appropriate. Listening and honoring cultural considerations is essential in every session design.
Do you provide any documentation or follow-up after a facilitation session?
We typically provide a synthesis of key insights, decision points, and any group commitments made. Depending on your needs, this could include next-step recommendations or a visual summary. We also offer optional follow-up sessions to revisit progress. You’ll have something tangible to support continued action.
What kinds of organizations do you work with in Newfoundland and Labrador?
We support public sector teams, nonprofits, regional agencies, healthcare coalitions, education boards, and private organizations. Facilitation is relevant in any setting where dialogue and decisions matter. We’ve helped groups across the province align on strategies, values, and action plans. Our approach scales from 5-person teams to multi-stakeholder groups.
