COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles draws inspiration from Paul Costa and Robert McCrae’s research on the Big Five Personality Model, introducing how different personality styles prefer to communicate along the spectrums of result-driven vs. interpersonal and reflective vs. assertive.

COMS is an interactive communication styles exploration. Through answering 8 strategically designed questions, you and your team will gain valuable insights into how individuals tend to communicate and interact. By visualising this into a simple but effective grid and delivering an interactive workshop, it can be instrumental in improving team dynamics, reducing conflict, and fostering more effective communication across the organization. Each of the four identified style has its strengths in different contexts. Your team will leave the session knowing with a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse communication styles as well as how to leverage each approach and adapt their style to maximize impact and drive positive outcomes.

Strategic Planning

This isn’t just another corporate exercise – it’s a chance for you to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization and an opportunity to align on strategic planning initiatives and actions.

As strategic planning facilitators, we guide organizations through the strategic planning process. We don’t dictate solutions to you, we enable your groups to co-create strategies based knowledge, experience and diversity. We create an environment conducive to open dialogue, innovation, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making. This role is distinct in that it focuses on empowering your organization rather than imposing external ideas. Our award-winning facilitators are catalysts for transformative decision-making and planning. We do, however, offer guidance and insight into how other organizations operate and offer suggestions you may wish to implement. To us, strategic planning is more than just a single planning session. We work with our clients to help them navigate the strategic plan throughout the months and even years ahead. With our objective lens, we are well-positioned to offer insights into the strategic plan and execution tactics.

FAQs for Change Management Facilitation

What does a change management facilitator do?

They guide organizations through planned transitions such as restructuring, leadership changes, or cultural shifts. Their role is to help clarify purpose, align stakeholders, and build shared understanding of the change. Facilitators use structured conversations to reduce resistance and maintain forward momentum. They support the people side of change while keeping outcomes in view.

Why is facilitation important during periods of change?

Change efforts often fail due to miscommunication, uncertainty, or lack of buy-in. Facilitation offers space to work through those dynamics together. It helps groups uncover challenges, reframe resistance, and identify practical ways forward. That process makes change more sustainable and less disruptive.

How does facilitation help reduce resistance to change?

Resistance is usually tied to fear, unclear messaging, or lack of involvement. A skilled facilitator surfaces those concerns early and creates room to address them directly. This builds psychological safety and opens the door to honest feedback. As a result, teams feel heard and are more willing to engage.

When should we involve a facilitator during a change initiative?

Early involvement is best, particularly when you’re still shaping the change plan or anticipating employee impact. Facilitators help define messaging, engagement strategy, and feedback loops. They can also support during implementation or after rollout for integration. Their guidance helps anchor transitions across stages.

What makes change management facilitation different from consulting?

Consultants often provide recommendations or subject matter expertise. Facilitators create conditions for the group to explore and align around their own insights. Facilitation focuses on process design, decision-making, and collaborative engagement. It’s about activating the wisdom already within your organization.

Can facilitation support change in hybrid or remote teams?

Yes, facilitation is just as effective online when it’s designed thoughtfully. Tools like digital whiteboards and breakout rooms can enable engagement across locations. Online facilitation supports connection, shared clarity, and alignment, even in dispersed environments. It’s especially helpful when communication needs are high.

What types of organizational change benefit most from facilitation?

Major change efforts that affect people’s roles, identity, or daily work are ideal for facilitation. This includes restructuring, digital transformation, cultural redefinition, or post-merger integration. When a change feels personal or complex, facilitation adds needed structure. It ensures that the process moves with intention.

How do we prepare our team for a facilitation session?

Start by framing the purpose of the session and why participation matters. Invite team members to bring honest feedback and questions. Clarify that this is a collaborative conversation, not a top-down directive. Preparing this way supports better outcomes and stronger engagement.

What does a typical change management facilitation session include?

Sessions vary depending on your goals but often include reflection, dialogue, and shared planning. Facilitators might guide discussion on vision, barriers, and next steps. Sessions can be standalone or part of a larger facilitation series. Each one is designed to meet your group where they are.

Is this service only for large organizations?

No, facilitation supports organizations of all sizes navigating meaningful change. Smaller teams often benefit from clearer alignment and streamlined planning. Whether your team includes five people or fifty, facilitation can help you move forward with more clarity. The approach is always tailored to your context.
