COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles draws inspiration from Paul Costa and Robert McCrae’s research on the Big Five Personality Model, introducing how different personality styles prefer to communicate along the spectrums of result-driven vs. interpersonal and reflective vs. assertive.

COMS is an interactive communication styles exploration. Through answering 8 strategically designed questions, you and your team will gain valuable insights into how individuals tend to communicate and interact. By visualising this into a simple but effective grid and delivering an interactive workshop, it can be instrumental in improving team dynamics, reducing conflict, and fostering more effective communication across the organization. Each of the four identified style has its strengths in different contexts. Your team will leave the session knowing with a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse communication styles as well as how to leverage each approach and adapt their style to maximize impact and drive positive outcomes.

Strategic Planning

This isn’t just another corporate exercise – it’s a chance for you to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization and an opportunity to align on strategic planning initiatives and actions.

As strategic planning facilitators, we guide organizations through the strategic planning process. We don’t dictate solutions to you, we enable your groups to co-create strategies based knowledge, experience and diversity. We create an environment conducive to open dialogue, innovation, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making. This role is distinct in that it focuses on empowering your organization rather than imposing external ideas. Our award-winning facilitators are catalysts for transformative decision-making and planning. We do, however, offer guidance and insight into how other organizations operate and offer suggestions you may wish to implement. To us, strategic planning is more than just a single planning session. We work with our clients to help them navigate the strategic plan throughout the months and even years ahead. With our objective lens, we are well-positioned to offer insights into the strategic plan and execution tactics.

FAQs for Saskatchewan Facilitation

What facilitation topics are commonly covered in Saskatchewan?

Strategic planning, governance, communication, and team development are all common themes. Sessions often support goal alignment, leadership capacity, or service planning. In Saskatchewan, facilitation frequently includes rural economic development or stakeholder engagement. The focus always reflects the local context and group objectives.

Are sessions available for both in-person and remote groups?

Yes, both virtual and in-person formats are available for Saskatchewan-based organizations. We work with your team to choose the most accessible and effective approach. Our facilitators have supported both hybrid councils and fully remote planning teams. We tailor tools and delivery to fit the format.

Who typically hires facilitators in Saskatchewan?

Clients include municipalities, educational institutions, health boards, cooperatives, and nonprofit groups. These organizations often seek support in managing change, clarifying direction, or improving collaboration. Sessions help groups engage in constructive dialogue with clear outcomes. We work across public and private sectors.

What’s different about facilitating in Saskatchewan compared to other provinces?

Sessions often include more regional diversity and local nuance than larger metro areas. Facilitators adapt to community size, values, and communication patterns. Respect for time, directness, and long-standing relationships matters. We reflect these dynamics in both planning and facilitation style.

How are agendas co-designed with Saskatchewan teams?

We begin with a discovery conversation to understand your goals and constraints. Then we co-create an agenda that matches your timing, group size, and objectives. Input from local leaders is included when relevant. The process is collaborative from start to finish.

What tools do facilitators use during sessions?

Facilitators use a mix of visual mapping, live polling, breakout groups, and structured frameworks. Depending on the format, we might use flipcharts, Miro, Jamboard, or shared docs. The tools are always introduced clearly and designed for accessibility. They’re used to deepen participation, not distract from it.

How long does a typical facilitation session last?

Standard sessions run between two hours and a full day. Multi-day sessions are common for strategic retreats or leadership alignment. We’ll help you choose a format that suits your team’s needs and energy. Breaks, pacing, and engagement are all planned carefully.

What follow-up support is available after a session?

Our facilitators can provide session summaries, documentation, or visual notes. We also offer debrief calls or support to implement decisions made during the session. Many Saskatchewan teams use ongoing facilitation for accountability or next-phase planning. We help you maintain momentum after the meeting.
