COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles

COMS Communication Styles draws inspiration from Paul Costa and Robert McCrae’s research on the Big Five Personality Model, introducing how different personality styles prefer to communicate along the spectrums of result-driven vs. interpersonal and reflective vs. assertive.

COMS is an interactive communication styles exploration. Through answering 8 strategically designed questions, you and your team will gain valuable insights into how individuals tend to communicate and interact. By visualising this into a simple but effective grid and delivering an interactive workshop, it can be instrumental in improving team dynamics, reducing conflict, and fostering more effective communication across the organization. Each of the four identified style has its strengths in different contexts. Your team will leave the session knowing with a deeper understanding and appreciation for diverse communication styles as well as how to leverage each approach and adapt their style to maximize impact and drive positive outcomes.

Strategic Planning

This isn’t just another corporate exercise – it’s a chance for you to engage your team in the planning and execution of the organization and an opportunity to align on strategic planning initiatives and actions.

As strategic planning facilitators, we guide organizations through the strategic planning process. We don’t dictate solutions to you, we enable your groups to co-create strategies based knowledge, experience and diversity. We create an environment conducive to open dialogue, innovation, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making. This role is distinct in that it focuses on empowering your organization rather than imposing external ideas. Our award-winning facilitators are catalysts for transformative decision-making and planning. We do, however, offer guidance and insight into how other organizations operate and offer suggestions you may wish to implement. To us, strategic planning is more than just a single planning session. We work with our clients to help them navigate the strategic plan throughout the months and even years ahead. With our objective lens, we are well-positioned to offer insights into the strategic plan and execution tactics.

FAQs for New Brunswick Facilitation

What types of facilitation do you offer in New Brunswick?

We facilitate strategic planning, leadership development, team alignment, conflict resolution, and decision-making sessions. Our approach is responsive to organizational goals and team dynamics. We also offer custom engagements shaped around community priorities or regional concerns. Sessions are available in-person, virtually, or as blended formats across New Brunswick.

Can facilitation support remote or hybrid teams in the province?

Yes, we work with distributed teams using reliable virtual tools and techniques. We design sessions to ensure everyone, whether in the office or joining remotely, feels engaged and included. This includes thoughtful pacing, tech onboarding, and platform-appropriate exercises. Virtual facilitation maintains clarity and flow, no matter where participants are located.

How do you tailor facilitation for New Brunswick’s bilingual teams?

We adapt each session based on the language preferences and cultural context of the group. Facilitators can partner with interpreters or deliver sessions bilingually when needed. Our aim is to ensure accessibility and full participation throughout. We also respect and reflect regional values in how we frame the work.

What are the benefits of hiring an external facilitator?

An external facilitator brings neutrality and focus, allowing internal team members to participate without carrying the burden of guiding the discussion. We offer structured methods to surface insights, reduce tension, and support consensus-building. With a third party holding the space, the team can explore difficult topics more openly. It also helps when aligning around new goals or leadership shifts.

How far in advance should we plan a facilitation?

Ideally, two to four weeks allows time to gather input, co-design the agenda, and prepare any tools or pre-work. For larger or more complex engagements, we may begin planning earlier. We’ll collaborate on timelines to match your decision-making cycles. Flexibility is built in, but strong prep always improves outcomes.

Can you help us develop an action plan during the session?

Yes, translating discussion into action is a key part of our facilitation. We support teams in capturing commitments, assigning roles, and identifying follow-up steps. Templates and tools are introduced to simplify this process. You’ll leave with decisions made and next steps documented.

Is facilitation useful for community-based or nonprofit groups?

Absolutely. We regularly support nonprofit boards, advocacy coalitions, and community stakeholders across New Brunswick. These sessions often focus on collaboration, consensus-building, and clarity of purpose. Our methods help diverse groups find common ground and move forward with shared intent.

Do you offer one-off sessions or long-term facilitation partnerships?

We provide both. One-time sessions are ideal for key planning moments, while longer partnerships allow us to support implementation, adjust strategy, and maintain alignment over time. We can also train internal leaders to adopt facilitation principles. The format depends on your goals and team structure.
